Terem Moffi has said he believes his self-belief and the confidence of his team KV Kortrijk have been boosted by his all-important equaliser against Belgian league leaders Club Brugge.
Moffi opened his goals account in Belgium in style and against the on-form team in the country.
He alone took on the Brugge defence before he drilled the ball home for a superb solo goal.
“I am excited for myself and for the team as well,” he told Kortrijk TV.
“Gives you lots of confidence to score against a team like Club Brugge. It’s confidence-boosting for me and the team.
“We have now got draws with two top teams.”
Terem’s mother, Margaret Moffi celebrated the goal on Facebook – “So sweet” accompanied by three clapping emojis she commented.
The young striker celebrated his goal by doing a backflip, which he said he has been doing since he was only eight years old.
“There was so much space in front of me and the one thing on my mind was – run,” he said of the goal.
“I ran and I was in front of goal and I scored.”
Tonight, Kortrijk will welcome fourth-placed Standard Liege in continuation of the league.
“We have to work hard and give 110% in front of our fans to get a positive result against a team better placed than us on the table,” he urged.
His club are 12th on the table with 23 points from as many matches.
