Genk captain Bryan Heynen has not hidden his admiration for Paul Onuachu and has said he will be happy for the big striker to play again for the Belgian club.
Onuachu was linked with a transfer to French Ligue 1 club FC Metz on Deadline Day, but he is still at Southampton amid speculations he could still return to Genk.
Heynen knows very well how important Onuachu has been to Genk and will be happy to welcome back the Super Eagles centre-forward.
“I am certainly open to it,” he said.
“I think everyone knows what he can do and what he means for the club. I don’t know how far Genk are in the transfer, so for me it is also a matter of waiting.”
Genk teammate March McKenzie said he has also heard the rumours of Onuachu return and will be happy to have him back.
“If everything goes well and he is here, then I will welcome him with open arms,” he said.
“If that is not the case, we will just keep going, that’s just how it works.
“Rumours are just rumours, we can only be sure when we see him physically in the city.”
The Belgian transfer window will only close on Wednesday.
