Galatasaray new recruit Lesley Ugochukwu has taken a big step towards playing for the Super Eagles as he is close to obtaining a Nigerian passport.
The defensive midfielder has been a long-term target of Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, but he has been reluctant to commit his international future to Nigeria.
Ugochukwu is a nephew of former Super Eagles defender Apam Onyekachi and has already been capped by France at age-grade levels.
Super Eagles deputy captain Victor Osimhen was reported to have played a big role in the player agreeing to join Galatasaray from relegated Premier League club Burnley for the upcoming season.
Osimhen would also be expected to now convince Ugochukwu to choose the Super Eagles.

Why the need to convince him. Did Nigeria lack quality players?
