Raphael Onyedika may have played his comeback game at the weekend after an injury layoff, but the Club Brugge coach has said the Super Eagles midfielder is not fully recovered.
Onyedika played the last half an hour in a 2-1 home win over Dender Saturday.
Club Brugge coach Nicky Hayen said the midfielder is far from 100%.
“Thirty minutes was the maximum for him in this match (vs Dender),” he stated.
“Can he start against Barcelona (Wednesday)? To make that decision, we have to see what the impact is and how he feels.
“I can already say that it’s out of the question for him to play 90 minutes. That’s too big a step in terms of intensity.”
However, the player himself appeared to disagree with his coach when he declared he is 100% fit.
“If I wasn’t at one hundred percent, I shouldn’t have played,” he maintained.
“Yes, of course I’m ready to play against Barcelona. It will be an exciting match for all of us.”
