Flying Eagles coach Abdu Maikaba has said the immediate target of his team is to finish top of Group B of the WAFU B U20 AFCON qualifying tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
The Nigeria U20s have already punched their ticket to the semi-finals of the competition after victories over Ghana (4-2) and Togo (3-0).
Tomorrow afternoon, they will face second-placed Burkina Faso to determine the over all winners of the group.
They have six points from two matches, two points ahead of the Young Stallions.
“We wil need at least a point to win the group, but we want to win this match,” Maikaba said.
“Burkina Faso are a very good team and they will come all out so as to also qualify.
“We want to finish top of our group because that will give us more confidence going into the semifinals against the second-placed team in Group A.”
Abdulmuiz Adeleke has netted four goals in two matches for the Flying Eagles and Maikaba said the young striker is a big plus to the team.
“With Adeleke, you can always expect good result from this team,” the coach praised.
