Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso has been drilling his team on finishing after they spurned many chances in an U20 AFCON warm-up game against Congo.
The Junior Eagles edged past their Congolese counterparts 2-1 Sunday, but several officials informed SCORENigeria that in the first half alone, they ought to have scored seven goals but for poor finishing.
“We dominated the game from start to finish, but the undoing of the team was not being clinical in front of goal,” one of the officials revealed.
“It was like the Flying Eagles of 2013, creating chances and dominating play but struggling to score.
“We should have scored as many as seven goals in the first half, but the chances were all wasted.
“That’s why the coach has been working on their finishing now.”
The Flying Eagles will play a second test game against Central African Republic U20s tomorrow also in Morocco.
It will be their last friendly before they fly out to Egypt Thursday.
They open their U20 AFCON campaign with a mouth-watering opening day clash against fellow West Africans Senegal on Sunday night in Cairo.
