Questions have been asked about the creativity in the Flying Eagles midfield and it is now left for captain Ibrahim Yahaya to answer some of these posers.

Yahaya is the team’s most consistent player and has also weighed in with his fair share of goals.

In coach Ladan Bosso’s 4-3-3 formation, he will play behind the top striker.

He has a big engine, shoots well with both feet, a good passer of the ball and also knows his way to goal.

He is the Flying Eagles Secret Weapon at the U20 AFCON.

Jonathan Nicholas from the Moses Simon Academy is a capable deputy after he has overtaken Gombe United star Mohammed Aminu in the pecking order.

Aminu flopped at the U20 AFCON qualifiers in Niger Republic and only bounced back to top reckoning after fierce competition for places in recent training camps.

Daniel Daga is the first choice defensive midfielder.

He was one of the team’s revelations in the qualifiers, he is dynamic, packs a powerful shot and enjoys the confidence of the coach.

“Schoolboy sensation” Onuche Ogbelu has grown in leaps and bounds to be the other option in defensive midfield and has also played alongside Daga.

On the fringes are Caleb Ochedikwu, a big talent from Mavlon FC, Albania-based Hamzat Ojediran Basit has worked hard in camp and Shatima Umar, who has delivered when he has been called upon.

They should be on the trip to Morocco, but miss the final cut.

FLYING EAGLES FINAL SQUAD:

Midfielders: Daniel Daga, Onuche Ogbelu, Mohammed Aminu, Jonathan Nicholas, Ibrahim Yahaya,*Hamzat Ojediran, *Shatima Umar *Caleb Ochedikwu
