Flying Eagles coach Aliyu Zubairu has said the WAFU Cup in Ghana will help prepare his team for the U20 World Cup in Chile in September.
“It will offer us a good platform to prepare for the World Cup and that’s what is important to us,” the Flying Eagles coach said.
“We want to know the level of our team and we begin to organise ourselves for the World Cup.”
Nigeria will open their WAFU Cup campaign against hosts Ghana today at 3pm.
Last year, the Flying Eagles beat their Ghanaian counterparts 2-1 in the final of the WAFU B qualifiers for the 2025 U20 AFCON.
