Flying Eagles coach Aliyu Zubairu has backed his team to win his second trophy with them as they get set to tackle Niger in the first semifinal of the 2025 WAFU B U20 Cup today.
Kick-off today is 4pm.
The Nigeria U20s won Group A with four points and a better goals difference than hosts Ghana, while Niger finished runners-up in Group B also with four points.
Last October, the Flying Eagles stopped their counterparts from Niger 3-1 to reach the final of the WAFU B U20 AFCON qualifiers in Togo.
Coach Zubairu has expressed confidence the Flying Eagles will again be victorious today.
“We resolved to play four matches (at this tournament) and we have so have played two. We hope to win our third game (vs Niger),” he predicted.
“We have done well and we’re closer to the trophy.”
