The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will tomorrow begin their U20 World Cup campaign against the Landslaget of Norway at the Estadio Fiscal de Talca in the Group F.
Kick-off time is 9pm Nigerian time.
Nigeria and Norway have never met at this level of world football, but the Europeans could be a big test for Nigeria because they hold the all-time record for the biggest win of this tournament after they demolished Honduras 12-0 in 2019 with a certain Erling Haaland among the scorers.
Norway have prepared adequately for Chile 2025 with warm-up games.
In March, they drew 1-1 with Uzbekistan and then lost 1-0 to Ukraine.
The following month, they fell 1-0 to USA before they were held to a goalless by fellow group rivals Saudi Arabia.
The Flying Eagles, on the other hand, were forced to a 1-1 draw by World Cup hosts Chile, before they beat fellow World Cup finalists Australia 3-1.
Two-time finalists in Saudi Arabia in 1989 and in The Netherlands in 2005, the West African giants will be making their 14th appearance in the competition.
On the other hand, their Scandinavian counterparts will step on to the field for only the third time in the history of the championship.
Nigeria sealed their qualification to Chile after finishing third, with the bronze medals, during the Africa U20 Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.
The coach Aliyu Zubair-led squad will be banking on the experience of captain Daniel Bameyi and midfielder Daniel Daga who were part of the immediate past team that reached the quarter-final stage in Argentina in 2023
