The Flying Eagles have got off to a great start at the U20 AFCON qualifiers in Niger after they dumped their Ghanaian counterparts 2-0 to partly avenge the setback suffered by the Super Eagles at the hands of the Black Stars in March.
The Black Stars dimmed the Eagles out of the 2022 World Cup in Abuja in dramatic fashion two months ago.
But today, the Nigeria U20s were a class ahead of the Black Satellites in an opening Group B tie at the WAFU B qualifiers for the U20 AFCON qualifiers.
This win has virtually afforded them qualification to the semifinals from a three-team group.
Man of the Match Ibrahim Muhammad Ibeji opened scoring for the Flying Eagles after just five minutes of action.
The Junior Eagles doubled their lead on 78 minutes through substitute striker and former Golden Eaglets star Ahmed Abdullahi.
The Flying Eagles carved several chances especially in the first half and ought to have won by a bigger margin, but striker Adams Olubi was wasteful in front of goal.
The defence made up skipper Tosin Adegbite and fellow central defender Bolu Sholumade as well as Water FC giant goalkeeper Nath Nwosu were outstanding to keep out the Ghanaians.
