Champions of the FCT FA League, Waco Academy, have confirmed they have received their cash prize of 200,000 Naira, while skipper and MVP Enoch Tanimu said he has been lifted by what the team achieved.
Waco beat Winco Foam FC 3-1 to emerge deserved winners of the FCT champions for the 2019 season.
“I can confirm to you that we have received our cash prize,” said an elated club chairman John Wakili.
“The chairman (Adam Mouktar Mohammed) has lived up to his promise and like he always says, football is again the winner in the FCT.
“His passion and drive have truly energised the development of football in Abuja within such a short time.
“The profile of my team has been boosted after we won this highly organised tournament.
“We’re therefore most grateful for what the chairman has done for football since he was elected last year.”
Besides the cash prize, Waco coach Makanaky received a product from Winco Foam, while MVP Enoch Tanimu was rewarded with a new pair of football boots.
All four semifinalists were also specially kitted by the FCT FA.
The FA will also pay Waco’s registration fee for the Aiteo Cup.
In the meantime, MVP Tanimu has told SCORENigeria he and his team have been lifted after they were crowned FCT champions.
“It’s a massive achievement and that can only lift us to do more for the team and also for ourselves,” said the 17-year-old striker, who scored 17 goals leading up to the championship game.
“It was a great competition and we are super proud to win it.”
