Football in Abuja is already enjoying a massive boost after new FCT FA chairman Adam Mouktar Mohammed initiated a much-needed face lift for the popular Area 3 sports ground and also met with top officials of the Switzerland embassy to explore areas of co-operation.
The Area 3 sports ground has suffered total neglect for many years even though it is the home ground for the FCT clubs in the various leagues and also hosts most of the football activities in the FCT.
The untarred road leading to the arena is now being graded and made more motorable thanks to the generosity of the FA boss.
The bushes around the sports ground have also been cleared and the entire complex has been fumigated to make it a lot more presentable.
Mouktar Mohammed has already visited the Switzerland embassy in Abuja, where he met with officials to find common grounds for co-operation.
He held useful discussions with the Ambassador George Steiner along with Bruno Jamouridis, president of Bimo Sport Management Worldwide.
“There is a lot of work to be done and like I promised on the day I was elected, we have no excuse but to hit the ground running,” he declared.
“We have a vision to drive football in the FCT and the time is now.”
