Fatai Amoo is set to be named as the new coach of the country’s U20 team, the Flying Eagles.
Last year he headed the U17s, the Golden Eaglets, qualifying them for the U17 AFCON in Morocco, which was eventually cancelled.
A top source informed SCORENigeria: “Amoo is the leading candidate to lead the new Flying Eagles.
“His fatherly leadership and record with the Golden Eaglets have given him the edge.”
It was further understood that former Shooting Stars and Sunshine Stars coach Amoo is fully backed by a powerful serving Minister, who got him the Eaglets post in the first place.
Last year, the Flying Eagles under coach Ladan Bosso failed to qualify for the U20 AFCON after they failed expectations against Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana in Benin Republic.
The NFF have yet appoint coaches for both the Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets.
