Some poor individual performances caused the Flying Eagles to fall to a heavy 4-0 defeat at the hands of Argentina, according to an expert.
Dutch coach Erik Stekelenburg has faulted the performances of midfielder Daniel Daga and goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt as the Flying Eagles were bundled out of the 2025 U20 World Cup.
“The Flying Eagles were poor for the first 25 minutes,” remarked Stekelenburg, who watched the game from his base in Malaga, Spain.
“The goalkeeper (Harcourt) was very weak and he caused much uncertainties.
“I saw Daga again, he is still doing the same mistakes he did two years ago (at the 2023 U20 World Cup in Argentina).”
He continued: “The second part of the first half was way better, the team deserved at least to pull a goal back or even draw level, but their finishing was weak.
“And the referee refused to award them a penalty, which was a bad decision.
“Then when they conceded again seven minutes after the break, the game was over of course.”
