SCORENigeria can exclusively reveal that the transfer of Stanley Nwabali has been stalled because South African club Chippa United are still negotiating on a record transfer fee for the Super Eagles goalkeeper.
Nwabali, 27, has already agreed personal terms with the club who plan to sign him and he is excited about this.
However, Chippa United, who at a time demanded Two Million Euros for the giant shot stopper, have been playing “hard ball” on how much they want for Nwabali, who still has two years left on his contract.
That was what caused the Saudi Arabian club Al Ittifaq to pull out of the chase for the player.
SCORENigeria now understands that Chippa United have reached an agreement with a club for the transfer of the goalkeeper, who posted 10 clean sheets in 26 PSL appearances.
“The transfer fee is a record,” a top source told SCORENigeria
“It is a lot of money and now it is how it will be paid.
“The clubs are now trying to decide how the payments will be structured.”
Fans have been anxious to know the identity of the club who are close to signing Nwabali.
“The club are a sleeping giant, whose profile matches the ambitions of the player,” another source told SCORENigeria
“Hopefully, it won’t be long before a formal announcement of this transfer is made.”
