SCORENigeria can exclusively reveal that Eric Chelle took a huge pay cut to become the new coach of the Super Eagles.
The former Mali handler quit his post as coach of Algerian club MC Oran by mutual consent this week so as to take over the Super Eagles.
A top source told only SCORENigeria: “He earned a lot more with his Algerian club than he will with the Super Eagles.
“This is because he strongly believes that with the quality of the players in Nigeria, he can turn around the country’s fading 2026 World Cup hopes.
“This is the main task he was hired for and it will take a man with courage and a positive mindset to do what he has done.”
It was reliably gathered that he will sign a two-year contract that will cover the remaining 2026 World Cup qualifiers as well as the 2025 AFCON in Morocco in December.
His agent, it was further gathered by SCORENigeria, has already arrived Nigeria to agree the personal terms of the 47-year-old coach.
