Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso has told SCORENigeria he will submit his final squad to CAF for next month’s U20 AFCON in Egypt on January 20.
The U20 AFCON, which kicks off on February 19 in Cairo, will serve as qualifiers for the U20 FIFA World Cup in May in Indonesia.
Nigeria are drawn in Group A along with hosts Egypt, Senegal and Mozambique.
Bosso is expected to name an enlarged squad of 30 players for the U20 AFCON thanks to the measures put in place by CAF to tackle the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Flying Eagles will resume training camp on Sunday with top team officials suggesting that 35 players that would include overseas-based pros expected to report.
Bosso has already listed some of the foreign pros he will draft for the final phase of preparations.
They are Ibrahim Mohammed Ibeji (winger, Cartegena/Spain), Ahmed Abdullahi (striker, Gent/Belgium), Lawal Samson (attacking midfielder, Germany) as well as Lekan Oyedele (left fullback, Feirense/Portugal).
He has also insisted that these pros must come down to fight for their places as there will be no automatic shirts.
Bosso also told SCORENigeria that from last month’s training camp in Abuja, he has picked 12 players good enough for the U20 AFCON and inevitably for the World Cup.
The Flying Eagles will depart for a training camp in either Spain or Morocco at the end of this month.
