A former teammate of Gift Orban at Norwegian club Stabaek has revealed the big storm the player caused when he was sold to Belgian club Gent in January.
Former teammate Simen Wangberg told a podcast programme Season Card: “In January, there were rumours that Stabæk had accepted a bid for him, and the confirmation finally came.
“Then Gift walked into our dressing room, and just said ‘fuck you, guys’, took his boots with him and straight to Belgium, while showing his middle finger in the air.”
Gift Orban first went on trials at the Norwegian second division club in winter of 2022 after he was scouted by Atta Aneke in Uyo, before he returned in the summer and was signed.
“He is a fantastic story,” recalled his former teammate.
“He had trials in January last year, but he wasn’t ready. He returned in May/June, and was a completely different player.
“And what he did last year spoke for itself.”
Nineteen goals and seven assists and Stabaek were promptly back in the Norwegian top league before they received over Three Million Euros for the Shooting Star from Belgian club Gent in January.
