Former Anderlecht star Nordin Jbari has said he believes that the Brussels club will now be a lot more dangerous and good to reach the Belgian championship playoffs with Paul Mukairu playing as the team’s new No 10.
In the cup game against RFC Liege on Wednesday, Mukairu scored and provided an assist playing behind the top striker.
He has played mainly as a left winger previously.
“With the quality that is now available, I think that Kompany really does have the weapons for the Top Four”, Jbari told De Zondag.
“He is still looking for who can play as second striker/offensive midfielder within his philosophy like (Percy) Tau and in the cup he played Mukairu in that role for the first time.
“That was a success. Mukairu is quick with the ball, moved well between the lines and the interaction with Larsen on the left also went smoothly.”
The former Anderlecht star said the team will be difficult to defend against as a result.
“Larsen likes to come in, deep striker Nmecha moves a lot, El Hadj is fast and dynamic and on the right they leave room for Amuzu to come man to man. Amuzu still misses a lot, but with his explosiveness he hurts opponents a lot.
“With so much speed, Anderlecht can play very well on the counter and we now know that Kompany does not always want the ball anymore.”
