NPFL champions Enyimba have confirmed midfielder Dayo Ojo was abducted by gunmen along Benin-Owo expressway.
Enyimba said Ojo was kidnapped Sunday on his way to Akure after the club allowed the players to break following the suspension of the NPFL due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Ojo and Benjamin Iluyomade from NNL side Abia Comets were abducted, while another Enyimba player, Emmanuel James, escaped.
Enyimba said they are in close contact with Ojo’s family as efforts are on to ensure the player’s release.
Ojo has featured for Sunshine Stars as well as Sudanese giants El-Merrikh.
