Enyimba’s chances of reaching the semifinal of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup suffered a huge setback after they were trounced 4-1 at Pyramids of Egypt today.
‘The People’s Elephant’ now have a mountain to climb to turn around this result next Sunday in Aba.
Ironically, Enyimba had got off to a flying start in Egypt when Victor Mbaoma stunned the home team within a minute, when he stole the ball from the goalkeeper to make hay.
However, Pyramids drew level through Ramadan Sobhi in the 15th minute.
The Egyptians made it 2-1 in the 49th minute via Farouk Salama.
Pyramids increased the tally in the 58th and 672th minutes both through Ibrahim Hassan.
No Nigerian club have won the Confederation Cup since it was founded in 2004.
