Emmanuel Dennis has revealed that he would have by now be playing in the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion, but the transfer fell through after he was not granted a work permit in the UK.
“Even with the coronavirus I could have made a transfer. I was about to leave, but I was not given a work permit. Whether it was West Bromwich? (Nods) It was a lease with an option (to buy),” Dennis told Het Nieuwsblad
“The wages were not the problem. The wages were crazy. And I played enough international matches.
“The problem was that it was a loan. And the clause in the contract was that they would only buy me if they were in the Premier League.”
He said he was not disappointed the move did not work out.
“Honestly, I didn’t really care. I wasn’t pushing for a transfer. I had more of an attitude of: If they buy me, then I go. If they don’t buy me, then I stay and I’ll go elsewhere later. I won’t lose anything.,” he said.
He added: “I have never had any stress. I play for a big club and I win. Every player wants to win. Club Brugge are the best team in Belgium. I want a step higher and a new challenge. I like a new competition. But I’m waiting for the right time. “
