The Super Eagles can still qualify for the 2026 World Cup despite the precarious position they have found themselves in the qualifiers, according to caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen.
Nigeria are second from bottom of their World Cup qualifying group with three points from four matches and the qualifiers will resume in March 2025.
Rwanda, South Africa and Benin are front runners in the group with seven points each.
Eguavoen, who is in temporary charge of the Super Eagles pending the appointment of a foreign coach, said the team have to be positive to turn their faltering qualifying campaign around.
“It has to be with positive thinking (for Nigeria to qualify for the World Cup),” Eguavoen said.
“We have to approach every game like a cup final and we have a big chance once we keep winning these remaining games even if it were by 1-0.”
