Super Eagles caretaker coach Austin Eguavoen has said he hopes to have star striker Victor Osimhen for the AFCON, which kicks off next month in Cameroon.
Osimhen has resumed training with Napoli after surgery for facial fractures and could now make remarkable return to action much earlier than predicted.
“Firstly, we hope that he is recovered, that he fully recovered from his injury and that the club will allow him to join the team,” Eguavoen said.
“However, if this does not happen, I am sure that Victor would be cheering. for the success of the team.
“We also have other players like (Taiwo) Awoniyi and (Emmanuel) Dennis .”
The Eagles will open training camp for the AFCON on December 28.
They battle Egypt in their opening group game on January 11.
How could SE Coach said that he hope the club release him.
That’s affirmation statement that Napoli has right to disallow him from playing in AFCON, in fact, it’s assurd . The only condition that can hinder Osimhen is if he’s not fully recovered, however he will not play for Napoli as well but if he fits Napoli has no reason whatsoever to disallow him. FIFA will sanction Napoli unless NFF allow lackadaisical approach.
