The NFF have opted for coach Augustine Eguavoen to lead the Super Eagles for crucial World Cup playoffs against Ghana in March after a meeting with officials of the sports ministry.
According to Sporting Life, the NFF will stick with Eguavoen after he handled the team in a temporary capacity at the AFCON in Cameroon.
The initial plan was for Eguavoen was to step down for Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro after the AFCON.
But Peseiro was not in Cameroon to observe the Eagles up close after officials said he had yet to sign his contract with the NFF.
He will therefore have only four days to work with the team before the first leg World Cup playoffs in Ghana.
This decision by NFF is a departure from their initial thinking to engage a foreign coach for the Eagles.
The report further said that two technical reports are expected on Monday and other decisions will be taken after these reports have been studied.
