The Nigeria players union has bemoaned the “double standards” displayed by world football governing body FIFA after they recently banned Haiti federation boss on allegations of sexual misconduct, but have so far turned a blind eye on the corruption allegations leveled against the NFF led by Amaju Pinnick.
“The National Association of Nigeria Footballers (NANF) wish to state that the suspension of Haiti Football Federation president Mr Yves Jean- Bart has exposed FIFA as a double-faced organization open to manipulation,” read a statement signed by president Harrison Jalla.
“The Nigeria Football Federation has a case worse than Haiti and FIFA cannot feign ignorance of it having been duly informed of the massive corruption that has grounded Nigeria football.
“The sanction on the Haiti football federation president was predicated on an ongoing investigation of rape allegations.
“What about the monumental corruption in Nigeria football in which a report has been sent to President Muhammadu Buhari by the EFCC?
“Why have FIFA refused to intervene in the Nigerian situation?”
Jalla further disclosed that the NANF will fire a formal protest letter to FIFA.
“(FIFA president) Gianni Infantino must run FIFA in consonance with the rules, no double standards,” he charged.
“There is a grand conspiracy within FIFA to stagnate the growth of Nigeria football by deliberately shielding corruption.”
