Gift Orban, who was widely expected to make a big-money transfer this past summer and also desired such, is still at Belgian club Gent because of one person – the new owner of the club, Sam Baro.
According to HLN, it was the Gent new owner who single-handedly stopped Gift Orban transfer to a major league club.
The newspaper reported that several top clubs across Europe were ready to splash the millions on the 21-year-old striker, but Baro rejected all offers because he believes Gift Orban can help Gent be champions of Belgium this season.
Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur were linked to the explosive striker, while the player’s representatives were also in advanced discussions on a transfer with French Ligue 1 club Lille.
The Transfermakt values Gift Orban at 20 Million Euros, while his Belgian club valuation of the player is a lot higher at between 30 and 35 Million Euros.
The recently invited Super Eagles player has so far netted 26 goals since his arrival from Norwegian second division club Stabaek in January.
