Former Anderlecht coach Rene Weiler has said new signing by KRC Genk Stephen Odey has the talent to shine in Belgium, but the fans must also be patient with the young striker.
The coach also said the former MFM FC star should not be seen as a direct replacement of Tanzania captain Mbwana Samatta, who was top scorer for the Belgian champions last season.
“He still needs to improve on the technical aspects of his game and also his killer instincts,” Swiss-born Weiler told Het Nieuwsblad.
“But already he is fast, powerful and has talent.”
He will feature in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League with Genk.
Odey, 21, has completed a five-year contract with Genk after he impressed in two years at Swiss side FC Zurich.
