Chuba Akpom has signed a five-year contract with Dutch giants Ajax.
The contract will be up on June 30, 2028.
Ajax paid English Championship side Middlesbrough 12 Million Euros, plus two Million Euros in bonuses for the 27-year-old striker, who was crowned top scorer of the Championship with 28 goals last season.
The Amsterdamers competed with RC Lens for the Englishman’s signature for a long time, before the French club eventually withdrew.
Technical director Sven Mislintat and trainer Maurice Steijn have received the desired reinforcement with the arrival of Akpom – Ajax wanted to have a direct rival for Brian Brobbey at all costs before the transfer market closed.
Akpom, who has pledged his international allegiance to Nigeria after he represented England at age-grade levels, came through from the youth teams of Arsenal.
After loan spells at Brentford, Coventry City, Hull City, Brighton and Sint-Truiden, the striker finally left The Gunners in 2018 for an adventure at PAOK Saloniki of Greece.
