J-League 1 outfit Condasole Sapporo’s latest acquisition Gabriel Okechukwu has promised to repay the club’s confidence in him by scoring goals.
The former Wydad Casablanca of Morocco striker, who was recently unveiled as the club’s new signing, told the club’s website that he was pleased to sign for the club and cannot wait to get started.
“It’s great to sign for this wonderful club and I can’t wait to get fully involved with my teammates and the whole of Condasole family.
“Above all, I want to my best to help.the team do their best and I want to do my best.”
Okechukwu, who had an unsettled stint in Morocco where he played a handful of games for Wydad Casablanca, arrived in Japan last week to sign a three-year contract at the J-League 1 side.
The deal was brokered by his agents Double Diamonds Soccer Agency, one of the fastest rising soccer agencies representing a number of Nigerian players, European players as well as Asian players.
Representative of the agency, who also brokered Chisom Egbuchulam’s move to South Korea and China, Joshua Dada, told SCORENigeria Okechukwu was a good bargain buy whose experience would bode well at the Japanese club.
Okechukwu will hope to make his J-League 1 debut when Sapporo hosts Yokohama FC on February 27.
The 25-year-old star, who was a 2018 CHAN silver medalist, has also played in Ukraine and Malta.
He also becomes the only Nigerian so far in the J-League 1.
