The CHAN Eagles preparations for next month’s CHAN in East Africa has been set back on account of withdrawals and injury involving several call-ups.
Officials said at least five of the players invited to the training camp in Ikenne have since transferred overseas and so will not be eligible for the tournament reserved for players who play in their respective domestic leagues.
The players are Abubakar Sadiq (Plateau United), Philip Adejo (Abia warriors), Isaac Saviour (Enugu Rangers), Papa Daniel (Niger Tornadoes) and Waliu Ojetoye (Ikorodu City).
Rangers central defender Ifeanyi Onyebuchi is not yet in camp due to injury, while goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt is away with the Flying Eagles at the WAFU B Cup in Ghana.
There are now 28 players in camp.
