Rivers United today qualified to the first round of the CAF Champions League despite a 1-0 loss to Watanga in Liberia, Kwara United progressed in the Confederation Cup, but Remo Stars exited the competition.
Rivers United are through to the next round having won the first leg in Nigeria 3-0 and so go through 3-1 on aggregate at the expense of Watanga.
In Niger Republic, goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka pulled off several big saves to deny home team AS Douanes and so Kwara United made it to the first round of the Confederation Cup.
Kwara United qualified 3-0 on aggregate after a goalless draw in Niger.
However, Remo Stars failed to go past the preliminary round of the same competition after they fell 1-0 at home to Morocco’s FAR Rabat.
The first leg in Morocco last week ended in a 1-1 draw.
