Coach Ladan Bosso has said the Flying Eagles will be at their best today in a final U20 AFCON Group A clash against Mozambique after an important win over hosts Egypt got them back to top reckoning.
Victory in Ismailia will qualify the seven-time African champions to the quarterfinal of the tournament, which also serves as a qualifier for the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia.
After a 1-0 loss to Senegal in an opening group game, the Flying Eagles dug deep to beat Egypt and revive their hopes in the competition.
They are now second in Group A with three points from two matches, while Senegal are through to the knockout rounds after they defeated Mozambique 3-0 for their second win in Egypt.
Both Egypt and Mozambique are on a point each.
Bosso has now said the win over Egypt has settled his team and he expects them to be at their best against the Junior Black Mambas of Mozambique in a first-ever meeting.
*The win over Egypt has kept the nerves down and the boys can now focus on playing their game; the way we know they can play,”Bosso assured.
“We must stamp our authority on the game from the beginning as we have no idea what will happen in the match between Egypt and Senegal.
“Our fate is in our hands.”
Kick-off time is 6pm today at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia.
