As they head into tomorrow’s U20 AFCON semifinal against Gambia, coach Ladan Bosso has vowed that the Flying Eagles will fight to win an eighth U20 AFCON.

Nigeria last won this competition eight years ago.

They are up against the Baby Scorpions from Gambia, who have won all their matches in Egypt and are yet to concede a goal.

“The most important thing for us in the tournament is that we qualified for the World Cup. Now we will fight to win the title,” Bosso declared at today’s pre-match press briefing.

The Flying Eagles coach said he is aware of what Gambia have produced at this tournament, but he will back his team to reach the Final.

“Tomorrow we will face The Gambia who are a strong team and we respect them well but we will work to present a good level to win,” he said.

“We will face a team that have not been defeated in the tournament.

“There are no big or small teams in football because it’s only performance and result that count.”

Captain Daniel Bameyi also expressed confidence of victory tomorrow.

“The match is important for us and winning is very important. We want to win and take the trophy back to our country,” said the Yumyum FC defender, who has served out a one-match ban and he is available for selection tomorrow.

“We are not under any pressure, we enjoy every match and go into each match with new energy and motivation.”

Kick-off time is 6pm inside the Cairo International Stadium.
