Tight security has been mounted and “all hands are on deck” at the Super Eagles camp as well as around the team amid fears that Benin could use juju (witchcraft) to get the much-needed advantage in today’s crunch 2026 World Cup qualifier Uyo.
SCORENigeria checks showed that security around the Super Eagles has doubled up to ensure they do not come under any spell that will cause Benin to win in Uyo and book a first-ever ticket to the World Cup.
“Benin mean business for this game and will do anything necessary to qualify for the World Cup today,” a team official stated.
“That’s why nothing must be left to chance by Nigeria.”
Another official told SCORENigeria of an incident that a suspicious Benin supporter was chased away from the Super Eagles bus during final training Monday by security men.
Benin have not hidden their belief in the occultic world and so often at important football games witches and wizards could be seen trying to cast spell on opposing teams.
Benin lead Group C of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with 17 points from nine matches.
They will qualify for the World Cup on the back of victory today in Uyo notwithstanding South Africa’s result against Rwanda in Durban.
They could also qualify with a draw with the Super Eagles and South Africa can only beat Rwanda 1-0.
