Group C leaders Benin are facing a major defensive crisis leading up to Tuesday’s final 2026 World Cup Showdown against the Super Eagles in Uyo as two of their key players are suspended.
Defender Yohan Roche and defensive midfielder Sessi d’Almeida bagged their second yellow cards in the hard-fought 1-0 win at Rwanda Friday and as such are ruled out of the Uyo cracker.
As many as nine Benin players were in danger of suspension before the Rwanda clash that coach Gernot Rohr had to lament his team’s lack of discipline on the pitch.
Nigeria need to beat Benin by at least two goals and hope South Africa do not beat Rwanda to qualify for next year’s World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico.
