Gift Orban looks set to stay put at Gent after the Belgian club tripled his salary and they have not wavered on their 30 Million Euros asking price for the sensational striker.
However, the transfer deadline in Belgium is till next Wednesday and there still could be some interest for the player outside mainland Europe, where the transfer window has closed.
Gift Orban, 21, was a popular target for some of Europe’s top clubs including Tottenham Hotspur from the Premier League and Lille in the French Ligue 1.
He has so far banged 26 goals in 30 appearances for Gent.
The striker, who is set to get his first Super Eagles call-up for a 2023 AFCON qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe later this month, still has three years left on his contract.
Gent are no longer under pressure to sell him after the recent takeover of the club by new owner Sam Baro affords them a huge financial lifeline.
Their asking price for the player has apparently scared away suitors.
