Lommel SK have openly regretted that their money troubles would have been a thing of the past had they taken the chance to sign Terem Moffi ahead of another Belgian club KV Kortrijk.
In December, Kortrijk paid Lithuanian club Riteriai FK 150,000 Euros for Moffi and now after four goals in the Belgian top flight his transfer market value has shot to 1.3 million Euros.
Lommel SK need around two million Euros to secure a professional licence for next season on appeal.
“If we had put that small transfer fee on the table for Moffi in December, Lommel might have played the promotion finals,” Peter Maes told De Zondag.
“Then we would have had a player with a market value who might have been able to solve our financial problems in one go.”
Reports now suggest Manchester City plan to take over Lommel.
