Nottingham Forest without striker Taiwo Awoniyi have reached the semifinals of the League Cup in England after they edged past Wolves 5-4 on penalties after scores stood at 1-1 after regulation time.
Awoniyi is Forest leading scorer in the Premier League but there was no explanation why he was not listed on the matchday squad Tuesday night.
This was Forest first cup semifinal since 1992.
They will now face Manchester United for a place in the final with them hosting the first leg fixed for January 23, while the return clash will be played a week later.
Emmanuel Dennis, who has played a fringe role at Forest, featured for the Premier League club amid speculations over his future.
The other semifinal is between Newcastle United and Southampton.
