Tolu Arokodare may be enjoying his most prolific campaign in Europe, but he along cannot crown Genk champions of Belgium, according to a top analyst.
Stef Wijnants said Genk, who won the regular season, have struggled in the Championship Playoffs.
“Suddenly everything is wrong with the team. For example, the threat from the flanks is much less than in the regular competition,” Wijnants told Het Belang van Limburg.
“The midfield is also not running as it used to. I have had doubts about Heynen’s physical condition since the international break. When I sometimes see him walking or crawling up after a tackle, he gives the impression that he is not completely fit.
“They still have everything in their own hands, but that is not really the case now. The most important thing is that they find playfulness in their game again.
“They are no longer favourites for the title. The loss of that pressure may be liberating for some players. It will be necessary, because Tolu will not be able to help Genk win the title on his own.”
Genk are third in the Championship Playoffs standings with 41 points with four matches to the end of the season.
On Saturday, they will be guests of leaders Union St.Gilloise, who are three points clear at the top of the table.
