The agent of Akinkunmi Amoo, Patrick Mork, has been banned for a year by the Swedish FA.
This may not be unconnected with youngster Amoo, who recently transferred from Swedish club Hammarby to FC Copenhagen of Denmark.
Mork himself confirmed the ban and said he will appeal it.
“Yes, the Swedish FA disciplinary Committee has decided to suspend my intermediary license for a duration of one year,” he admitted on Instagram.
“The decision is strange, incorrect and not backed by evidence.
“I will of course appeal it.”
He described the sanction as “a slap in the face” after 30 years as an agent.
There was a media backlash before Amoo was finally transferred to FC Copenhagen with reports suggesting that he staged a strike to force to move.
It was a suggestion the player himself denied outrightly.
Mork himself was defiant when he ended his Instagram post by simply saying: “And I am very proud of the Amoo story and his amazing career so far!”
Amoo is set for his first call-up by the Super Eagles for all-important World Cup playoffs against Ghana later this month.
