The Swedish club condemned the backlash the players received after the defeat.
“After Sunday’s match, death threats and racist allegations were directed at players in IFK Gothenburg,” IFK said on their website.
“The security around the team was immediately strengthened according to the club’s routines.
“Everyone in IFK Gothenburg strongly dissociates themselves from the unacceptable actions.”
The statement further said: ““Results and expectations belong to football. Threats to life and harassment do not.
“Performing under pressure is one thing, but no player or official performs better out of threats and hatred.”
Last year one of the IFK Goteborg players was also subjected to a similar abuse.
They are now 13th on the 16-team table with 20 points from 21 matches.
Even though they recently won the Swedish Cup, they have struggled in the league leading to the sack of their cup-winning coach and the replacement of the sports director.
