Several months after he netted Montpellier fastest goal in Ligue 1 in three years against FC Nantes, Jerome Akor is set for another battle against the same club at the weekend.
In April, Akor scored one of the fastest goals for Montpellier in Ligue 1, just one minute and 30 seconds into the game.
This was since Andy Delort’s goal against Marseille on April 10, 2021, which came after 29 seconds.
The striker then continued his impressive form by scoring twice last season to make him the first player in Montpellier history to score twice in his Ligue 1 debut.
The last player to achieve a similar milestone was Robert Malm in Ligue 2, during a match for Grenoble that ended in a 3-2 defeat.
The former Flying Eagles striker scored his two goals in just one minute and 42 seconds, making it the fastest double by a player in their first Ligue 1 match since Opta began analyzing the competition in the 2006/07 season.
Montpellier will therefore be counting on Akor to deliver another stellar performance against Nantes after they came away with a scoreless draw with Toulouse the previous week
He will come face-to-face with Super Eagles winger Moses Simon, who has already opened his Ligue 1 goals account for the new season.
