Former Flying Eagles striker Jerome Akor has told SCORENigeria he hopes to soon play in a top league amid speculations that he has sparked interest among several top Norwegian clubs.
Akor has thus far scored five goals this season for Sogndal as they attempt again to win promotion back to the Norwegian top flight.
It is a form that has reportedly interested Norwegian top division clubs like Stabaek and Brann.
Three years ago, he was also the hero as Sogndal made history by winning the Norway Youth Cup for the first time in their history.
Akor scored a hat-trick for his team to demolish Rosenborg in the Final and he was deservedly named MVP of the competition.
“Yes I want to play in the top league after more than three years in the OBOS League (Norwegian second division),” he told SCORENigeria
“I could also get there through Sogndal as we are back on track in our promotion push.”
Sogndal are fifth on the table with 21 points, five points adrift of leaders HamKam, close to the halfway mark of the season.
They have also advanced to the third round of the Norwegian Cup.
The big centre-forward, 21, is also in the last year of his contract.
From August 1, 2021, he could begin to talk with other clubs and even walk away a free agent at the end of the season, while Sogndal could also offer to extend his contract.
“I have to take a decision in the best interest of my career because this is what I have got,” he told SCORENigeria
“I want to believe the next few weeks will go a long way to determine what decision I take.”
Last season, he only played three matches mostly in the promotion playoffs after a long-term injury that kept him out for most of the campaign.
