Jerome Akor again scored in “the most important game of my life”, but it was not enough as Sogndal fell 3-2 to Mjondalen and thus failed to gain promotion back to the Norwegian top league for the third straight year.
Sogndal fell behind after just nine minutes, before Akor drew them level in the 79th minute from the penalty spot.
Sogndal then took the lead for the first time on 80 minutes only for Mjondalen to score two late goals to keep their place in the Norwegian top flight and deny their opponents a long-awaited return to the top league.
Mjondalen paraded Shuaibu Ibrahim, while Sogndal had Akor, Igho Ogbu and Peter Michael.
