The Super Eagles perfect record in the first round of the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon has lifted them to the third best team in Africa on the latest FIFA Ranking released today.
They were previously in fifth position and have now amassed 1509.91 points.
AFCON champions Senegal and Morocco are the only African teams ahead of Nigeria on the FIFA Ranking.
The Super Eagles are now 32nd ranked team in the world, four places up from last month.
The Eagles under interim coach Augustine Eguavoen beat eventual finalists Egypt, Guinea Bissau and Sudan to reach the AFCON Round of 16 in style.
However, they fell short in the knockout rounds to a depleted Tunisian side.
The FIFA Rankings will be used to seed all 32 qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The draw will be staged in Doha on April 1.
