The Nigerian striker was also named the official Man of the Match against Antwerp on a day Anderlecht wore for the first time their new third kit.
Kompany was so impressed with his new signing in training this past week that he took the gamble to name him on the matchday squad against one of the on-form teams in Belgium after he only trained with the squad for the first time this past week.
“In training, he played like he wanted to save his life, to survive,” former Manchester City captain Kompany said after Mukairu came off the bench to produce a magical curler in the 76th minute for what proved to be a historic match winner.
The former Belgium international also praised the maturity the entire team managed the game against Antwerp, who days earlier had stunned Tottenham in the Europa League.
Mukairu, 20, is on loan till the end of the season from Turkish club Antalyaspor with an option for Anderlecht to make the transfer permanent.
