Tolu Arokodare has revealed that he had hoped to reach an agreement with Valmeira FC for him to transfer to Anderlecht in January at the end of the season in Latvia, but they still refused to accept a record offer from the Belgian club.
“After a conversation with my agent, I proposed to my club to stay until the end of the season and move to Anderlecht in January, but they didn’t agree,” he told Sporta Centrs.
“I don’t understand that. It’s very unfair.
“I too will accept no other offer than that of Anderlecht.”
On Sunday, the 19-year-old striker refused to play a league match for his club, insisting he was mentally down.
“I was mentally incapable,” he explained.
“I felt down and could not train because of what happened (a first offer from Anderlecht was refused).
“Anderlecht are the club where I can develop as a player. Belgium has a good competition. It would be a good step in my career.
“It is the ideal next step in my career. And Valmiera could receive a record amount.”
Valmeira said he went on strike and they threatened to report him to FIFA.
