Portugal have a new captain following the retirement of the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo.
He is Bernardo Silva – with 115 international caps – who will take over the mantle in the future.
“In the national team, team captains are appointed based on how many international matches each player has played,” said national team coach Jorge Jesus.
The captain’s group consists of five players, with Silva having played the most matches for the national team.
– Followed by Rúben Dias, João Cancelo, Rúben Neves and Bruno Fernandes. It’s these five players, said Jesus.
Cristiano Ronaldo played 234 matches for Portugal.
